If all we ever do is work towards letting go, we simply come to a standstill, the cessation of movement. Then when we resume, we’re not as tired, but we remain fundamentally unchanged.
So, the whole purpose of rest is to create a space to experience unconditional love and acceptance. That’s the end game for rest, the purpose of coming to a quiet place. It’s not just accepting things as they are, and coming to peace with them… it’s accepting ourselves as we are, learning to love and appreciate ourselves deeply, and coming to peace with who we really are at the core. Our performance may vary, but in the quiet place of strategic rest, motives matter most, far more than anyplace else, or to anyone else.
The purpose of letting go, and coming to a caring stop, is to prove to ourselves that we are worthy of love, just as we are, because at our core we are pure and lovely and strong and helpful and holy and sacred and commendable.
And none of that has anything to do with our work.
Never has.
Never will.
